My 4.5 was in for a service last week and the dealer provided it with 15/40 when the manual states 0/40 i have rang them and they say this is now the standard. I have noticed the oil pressure has increased from about 40psi to 55psi when hot and idleing to over 65psi at approx 2500rpm also it take longer for the oil light to go out at cold start.
Has anyone else noticed this ???

Yes the oil has a greater viscosity which should increase the oil pressure. My 4.2 seen similar increases in pressure when running on Mobil 15/40.

The whole oil saga seems a bit of a dilema to me. I actually feel some of my local TVR dealers don't seem to have much of a clue. I would suggest contacting someone like V8 Developments who are switched on to these matters. their number is 01775 750000.

V8 developments specialise in the Rover V8, not the TVR AJP8. I can well believe Mobil 1 0w40 doesn't suit the old Rover, but since TVR designed their AJP engine, I'd rather listen to them.

I have just bought some 15/40 for top up. I was told that as it was a little thicker less would get used or leak...(as you can tell I am not a mechanic!) but it makes sense to me?
