I've just had a new clutch fitted (35K miles) but when the car is warmed up and normally in traffic the change from 1st to 2nd (generally) is really stiff and needs a sharp pull to change! when i noticed this problem before the new clutch was fitted i was told it was the slave cylinder. The new clutch work was supposed to have replaced the slave/ master whatever. Anybody got any ideas or am i about to take another big hit!!

Take the car back to where the clutch was changed and get them to sort it out!

Hmmm, Mine too. It feels stiff when coming out of gear.

This is after a new gearbox and clutch including bell-housing etc. etc. I've not really worried about this too much as it only bad when it's really hot. I did have to use two hands once to get it out of first after sitting in traffic on the M1 for a while. So I will get it looked into at some point.

I had all the work done a TVR power (Coventry) who said that I should "drive it and see if it loosens up a bit". I've got a full year's warranty on the work they did so I'll get them to have a look before the year is up. As, it also struggles to get into reverse when cold.

According to the other thread a transmission cooler might help. Let me know if you find out what causes it / fixes it.

Cheers, Steve

AFter my new clutch including bell housing etc, the gear change was a bit stiff. Very difficult into first and almost impossible into reverse. After some investigation by Thames Valley Racetech it was discovered that the gearbox input shaft whcih the clutch sits on was worn in places causing the problem. They have also noticed this with other cerbies after clutch replacement, as the new clutch doesn't sit in the grooves.
