Mine also a 4.2 runs normally at 60 never dropping below 40 even when idling and cold.
10 though seems veeeeerrrryyyyy low to me. Check your oil level (when cold) and all ancillary oil pipes (they have a tendancy to wear on sharp fibre glass body edges in the engine bay (tie them back if that's the case). If everything is OK you could have a knackered oil gauge or sensor.
I'd get your dealer to look at it if so.

My 4.5, 3 years old, 11000 miles - never much below 40 psi but my oil pressure light is on most of the time - it is not a wiring fault it must be the pressure switch. Do these have a habit of failing? Someone told me they are in the right place to collect rain water coming off the windscreen - a bit like the drivers legs I suppose!

I have spoke to the dealer and he has said that at Idle it should be 10-15psi then rise to 50psi (10psi per 1000 as a rule up to 5000rpm or below). I suggest that people should only reply to threads if they know what they are talking about. Also searched on the internet and it confirms what the dealer has said

60 psi on song, never goes below 40 even when idling. Jumps from 0-40/60 within 5 seconds of starting.
I have no oil leaks, constant good pressure and very rarely do I need to put any oil in, only if driven hard for long periods for a few days will I need to check it and top it up. I think the pressures really depend on each engine.
I do however have a sorted Cerbera though so maybe other car's lower pressures are just indicative of varying service procedures, engine builds or maintenence.
