Ref: 80K Cerbera. - Should now be called 80.5K Cerbera. OK done 500 miles since purchase - i suppose i should be expecting some trouble by now!!!!!. Got a bit of a starting problem - as follows:
Press the button - sometimes goes, sometimes not. The ignition always comes on but 5 times out of 10 it wont start, i.e. not even turn over or anything. I've had my local garage owner (who's had a couple of TVR's before)have a look, he says all connections are OK and starter motor looks recent. He's ordered a new starter relay and ignition switch. (hopefully here on Monday) Any other ideas / suggestions ????????

I would check all the earths b4 putting new parts on. An intermittent prob could be down to a poor connection.

I had the same problem in a chimeara, sometimes it would turn the engine over, othertimes not, didn't make any difference if hot or cold ( battery was always fully charged). Cleaning connections between battery and starter didn't fix it either. New starter motor did though.

Some Cerbs do go through starter motors quickly – one guy on here has had about five. Considering the amoutn of starts the ol' 80k fella has done, I'd treat it to a new one.

Make that seven or maybe 8 as the latest has just started to mis-behave, but maybe I should be grateful, it has done 7000 miles - better than some !

See other threads on the gassing station. There is an ECU change which holds the ignition for the first few revolution to avoid misfires which damage the starter. Most cars should have this mod, but apparently some don't. Not sure how you can check, but ask your dealer. If your dealer claims ignorance, find a specialist who does know about it, e.g. www.joospeed.net.
