From a cold start I get a knocking sound through the suspension, typically going slow (30ish) over the lumpy roads out of the village. Seems to go away after I've driven a while, any ideas ??

Also get brake judder but, again after they've been used a bit. I don't think it's warped disks because they are fine when cold and if you really stamp on them it smooths out. I thought I read something that this could be caused by the pads but couldn't find anything using the search.

Also fell foul of the bonnet stay yesterday - strong wind caught the bonnet while it was up and before I got to it the stay had folded and the bonnet came slamming down. No damage to bonnet and I've managed to straighten out the stay but the front of the bonnet did hit the top of the air box and has scuffed the gel off Anyone had any luck re-inforcing these, looks like you could get a steel rod down the centre of the alu tube.

Are you sure the knocking is the suspension cos if it is from the rear it is more than likely the rear anti roll bar - needs lubricating (oo..er) that was my problem.

I don't get judder on the brakes but before I cleaned out the calipers and skimmed the pads it felt as if the calipers were locking on and the disks were warped - it was just uneven pads and sticky calipers - they also tend to seize on if left standing for a while 2/3 days especially on the rear if you use the handbrake...

It's a little difficult to tell where the knocking comes from, apart from underneath somewhere (all sorts of noises seem to spread through the chassis).

I know the car spent a few months on the forecourt before I bought it so suspect that it could be some pad problem. The calipers look spotless and show signs of recent work (copper slip in the right places) so wouldn't expect sticking pistons to be a problem.

Spoke to the dealer today and he's arranging for it to go back and be sorted once they can prise the keys from my hand

hi, sorry its a bit late to respond but check out the rear antiroll bar drop links. I had a persistent road related knocking fom the back end which got progressively worse. It turned out to be the rose joint at the bottom of the drop link which had shed its inner collar and was rattling around doing no good whatsoever. No TVR dealer in the south of england could supply me with one and I did not even get a price from them.. £lots, I assume! A local bearings supplier found me one for £13 and it took about half an hour to fit.

If this is your problem let me know and I'll give you the details.

Did the rose joint you found have the bar attached as the TVR unit? (i.e. no mod required)

If so do you have the details?

Sorry guys, I really should try and work less so I can pay more attention to important stuff like my TVR.

The rose joint is a direct replacement for the existing item - ie, female RH thread M10, with a grease nipple. Its a straight swap for the current item. Undo the bolt connecting the rose joint to the hub carrier/outer wishbone end and the sleeves/spacers either side will fall away. Undo the locking nut where the RJ threads onto the drop link and the whole joint will then wind off the drop link.

As they say in all the best manuals, reverse the procedure to replace. Of course, this means swearing a lot because the sleeves and RJ won't quite fit back on the bolt, you wish you had a third hand so they could all be lined up at the same time and forgetting to take the pressure off the other end of the anti-roll bar!

But £16 is a lot less than £46 and it really will only take half an hour.

I just bought another one this morning (the other end is knocking now) from Hendersons bearings at Unit 15 Kingdom Close Segensworth East Business Park Southampton. Sorry I don't have a number to hand. I'll try and remember to post the telephone number and part number.

Had the dealer check out the knock and he didn't seem to think there was anything untoward. Will leave it for the moment until I've managed to blag a ride in a few other cerbs.

Brake judder was warped disks which have been replaced under warranty.

Thanks for all the info/advice.
