The Cerb's engine has been away in blackpool for a couple of weeks now, but today I got the verdict from them!
It had a loose Valve guide (don't know the reason for this yet) and so new guide, liners and rings are needed. Glazing was also a problem. Unfortunately the loose guide caused some damage to the Head and a new one is required!! (£1,000)
Sounds like a total of about £4,500 (plus £17,000 purchase price = £21,500.. Still not as much as dealer prices) and I get a 12 month warranty!
Will let you know any more information as some as I get it!

Oh well Been unravelling past threads but can't work out if you have a warranty. If you do, you are probably stuck as far as bore glazing goes - but a loose (as opposed to worn) valve guide sounds like a good claim to me! If you do have a warranty and TVR will confirm the problem in writing I'd push hard for a part settlement. Don't let the b******s grind you down. If not, my sympathies.

Didn't he pick it up cheap knowing that it needed some work, rather than pay full whack at a dealer and then have to have a load of work done on top of the price?

The warranty if it was WH would not pay for a loose valve - they would say it was wear and tear.
Well done mycerbera - hope u r up and running soon.
