Morning, my second weekend dawns for me and my new tvr. I have given a dealer in kent my 1999 chimera 4.0 and recieved in return a Crystal Topaz 2000 4.2 Cerbera. So far it has not disappointed EXCEPT even with the heating on full if I'm travelling on the motorway my 'lap' freezes! Its obviously to do with the centre eye ball vent but is there anyone out there that can help me warm up! The dealer, who was excellent, said it just one of those quirks.

Thanx for that, yes I've tried it and it does help after a long...............while. I just wonder if there was any sort of shroud that would fill the gapping hole! If not dont TVR sell a nice blanket?!

Spiky,

Must have been you in the showroom when I picked up my silver speed six last Friday.

Guess Nathan set the vents to cold to cool you down some, you seemed well stoked at the time and I imagine that didn't reduce once the engine got fired up

Maybe see you at one of the meets.

I have one next to my Left Knee as well. I beleive this is the HOT one and the Right is the COLD one which points down from under the steering column.
It can be quite difficult to find if you do not know where to look. Get out of the drivers seat and feel along where the carpet meets the vinyl. Once you've found it push it in to open the vents.
You'll get nice and warm.

I think vents vary from car to car I had my car for a number of months and after freezing for long enough on cold journeys dropped a note on PH. After much appreciated advice I was told there were 3 vents, one below the steering (Cold) one by right hand drivers knee (Cold) and one located on the transmission tunnel, it was not there. However it went to dreadnought for some work and I asked them to also check heating controls, after rummaging around they located the hole behind the carpet. New vent fitted and warm again, well that is until you trundle at any great speed and the draft from the rear window vent sucks the warm air out. So tell me about the optional TVR blankets !!!

Nope there definately is only one above my right knee and yes it does blow out warm air! But the draft from under the steering wheel cowling etc is still freezing. Roll on the summer should be a little better. Anyway such a minor problem with a fantastic motor.

The pipe that feeds the vent between the clock and petrol guage stops about six inches behind the vent, where another pipe pushes into it.

You can easily drop the bottom leather surround and you may be able to see a poor fitting pipe connection. One pipe just sits inside the other. You could stuff it with a cloth or something.

If you close the vent does it make a diffeence to the air blasting into your lap. I would expect it to increase when the vent is closed. When open it should decrease but blast you in your face !
