Thinking about making the jump.......
Discussion
Hi Folks, I've been lurking on here for quite a while and found most of the topics/discussions ver interesting.
I've owned middle of the road performance cars in the past, moving onto a Scooby and at present own an Evo 6, but I am seriously considering a Cerbera 4.5. I was wondering if you could answer a few questions for me??
Day to day running of the Cerbera is not a problem as the Evo is a nightmare at the moment 12-15mpg normal and around 3-5mpg on track, but what about servicing? How often and average prices? The Evo is every 4500miles @ £250-£400 a go.
The most asked question....how reliable? Are there any tell-tales that I should look out for?
Reading the BBS I get the feeling that there are a lot of unhappy owners with problematic cars. Is this the norm?
Has anyone had any dealing with Logik off the M90 near Dunfermline? I spoke with one of their salesmen, who was unsure about the Red Rose conversion, even though they have a new one fitted with it. He also stumbled on basic performance data.....quoting bhps galore, but an answer of duuuuuh' when I asked about torque figures. This does not fill me with a lot of faith, especially when they are trying to sell a £45,000+ car.
That's all folks, I would appreciate any guidance that you can give. I have already thought about a second car (puddle jumper) so that I can save running the Evo, but I would like the Cerbera to be able to start and run on command and not have to rely on another car.
Thanks...John
More advice. Find the profile of NOELV8 on these posts. Read some of his comments and note his career history. Phone him and listen to his answers. From your profile I guess you are in the Edinburgh or Fife area. There is probably nobody within 100 miles who can point out the pitfalls or supply better unbiased info than Noel. If you decide to go for a TVR that is not new, pay him to go over it for you. I could have saved a lot of money if somebody had given me this advice a while ago. Good luck.
