Advice on Cerbera door electrics

It sounds like the time for electrical problems judging by some of the current topics. My 98 Cerbera seems to be joining the ranks in sympathy.

The exterior door switch on the passenger side mirror seems to have stopped working. The interior switch (as well as the manual door pull) work ok so I'm assuming the problem has nothing to do with the control box or fuses. It looks like a problem with either the mirror switch assembly itself or a connection to it. I haven't had a chance to investigate this but I'm guessing it's going to be fiddly. Has anyone experienced this before? If so, I'd welcome any advice on how to get to the switch and any possible connections which may be culprits.

Yes, it was just some loose wiring behind the door in the end.

Take the inside door panel off (by taking the hex screws off around the outside of the panel). You need to support the panel as you do this otherwise it will drop to the floor. There is a connector block behind the panel which you need to disconnect before pulling back the panel too far so as not to yank out the wires. Once you've done that most of the wires are (just about) reachable for checking.

Could be the actual switch. The drivers side mirror switch on mine went awol a while back. That would be my first place to look as its easiest with no dismantling of the door required. The mirror glass just pulls out [watch you don't break it]. I can't remember if you absolutely have to take the mirror bezel and innards out to see the switch [I did], but if you do, the screws are all behind the mirror glass.

You can then short-out the back of the switch. If the door opens you've proved the switch is knacked. If it doesn't then it's probably the wiring in the door. If you do buy a replacement switch mine wasn't a terminal/plug type connector and so needed to be soldered on. Not a problem, but if you are going to change the switch make sure you've got a soldering iron available.
