Racetech confirmed that the car is in great condition... Apart from needing an engine rebuild by TVR! So after a lot of umming and arring (and a trader offering £10,000 for it!) I decided to use some of the equity in my little house and go for the rebuild! TVR say £2,000 plus removing and shipping, plus VAT, so £4,000 seems likely at the moment! Could take 6wks with the race session upon us. Bugger.. Wanted to take it to Castle Combe Easter Monday. Oh well, just though I'd let you know what was happening, and that in 6wks or so I will have a spot on Cerby. Running it in is going to be a pain, will have to get that out the way ASAP!!

sorry to hear that. could it not be done by someone like raven? aren't they one of the only garages who can officially work on the cerbera engine?

Deepest sympathy from myself and I imagine many others too.
What did racetech diagnose as the actual cause? It's always helpful to the rest of us poor sods who are waiting for the bang to know what to look out for.

Raven are an independent specialist. They are very experienced with this type of work though.

Nobody except the factory can officially work on the engine... they enforce this by not letting any parts out the door.

I can assure you that you can get the work done outside of the dealer network but even specialists will need to send the engine to TVR for the detailed work but at least the specialist will charge less for taking the engine out, striping it, rebuilding it, filling it with fluids , putting it back in etc...

My Cerb

Sorry to hear of your woe. However, don't look upon the running in period as a pain – look upon it as a joy and do it properly because it probably wasn't done right first time around.

Oh yeah, and while the engines up at Blackpool, get them to bung a 210mph speedo on the pallet before they ship it back!
