Hello,

I was hoping that somebody could enlighten me with regards to Cerbera
specifications. I've been looking at getting a 2000 ish 4.5 and
really like the new shape (new lights / Tuscan seats etc) but after
reading numerous articles and threads, it would appear that there is
little usable performance gain between a 4.2 and 4.5. Does this just
relate to sheer grunt or to breaks and suspension / setup as well?

Also I've noticed that the new shape appears late 99. Does this apply
to all cars or is it just the SP6 and 4.5 that get the new lights? I
ask this because I have only seen one 99+ 4.2 in TM with the new
lights and wondered if this was a typo? Basically I really want the
new lights but don't want to splash out on a 4.5 and really don't
want a SP6.

Hope you can help

Try www.zertec.co.uk as we designed the lights in the first place. If you need customer references please contact us on info@zertec.co.uk

Further to the post from Zertec -

I've seen their conversion and can confirm that the finished "look" is amazing - better (IMO) than the standard factory type "pods". (The Zertec conversion gives option to have the lights fully intigrated into the bodywork).

So impressed in fact they are supplying new style rears and speed 12 type fronts for my 4.5 Cerby.

So in short - find the Cerby you want and get Zertec to solve your light style concerns for a "minimal" fee!

Greg and soon to be "updated" Rosso Pearl 4.5

p.s. If it doesn't have the "spider" wheels - get them fitted. Looks fantastic.

Yep, I agree, Spider wheels are a must. Thanks, I'll start looking for a 4.2 then!

Cheers,

Rob

(Anybody know where I can get Spider wheels from? I would imagine that a dealer is the last place I should go. If I change the wheels, do I need to worry about camber and offset etc? Or will there be no overall size difference?)

Cheers Busta.

ZERTEC - Just took at a look the pics of the conversion. Looks good but the 4.5 appear to have 3 lights (a small side light) and yours appears to have two? Is it just the pic? Is it possible to get an exact 4.5 match?

Back to my first point - Does anybody have any info about break and suspension differences between 4.2 & 4.5?
Regards,

Rob

That price looks about the same as all dealers? It might be cheaper to get the wheels from a dealer and get the tyres elsewhere? S03s are cheaper than S02s and are about £180 a corner plus wheels are about £180 a corner as well incl VAT. So I reckon you might be able to do the lot for nearer £1400 if you shop around and are willing to bring wheels and tyres and the car to a tyre fitter yourself.

isnt the biggest difference between the 2000 spec cerb and the earlier on the windscreen.. they changed the thickness of the font rollcage so if you are over 3ft tall you can see out of the windscreen. have a sit in pre and post 2000 spec before you decide.

a m8 had a 96 and now has a 2000 4.5lw says they are totaly different cars with the new one much superior ( 96 car from new lw 2/hand) also the early 4.2 "felt" faster, but then it did blow its engine....

I've had the back (afterburners) and the front lights and indicators changed(clear indicators) and the wheels too...the car looks the nuts - if you speak to Ben as Greg suggested they can sort the wheels and spacers(if needed for you) and speak to Clive for the mod on lights.Hopefully will post piccies of everything next week so you can get a good idea of the complete package....then speak to Joolz to get your power up to 4.5 levels and you will have a 4.2 with red rose looks for a lot less.....however I am still happy I bought a 4.5 in THE right colour

Brakes are better on a 4.5 take a look at www.tvr.co.uk and look at model specs... - Joolz is your man for an upgrade there too.....as for suspension it depends on what yr you buy I think - not having had a 4.2 I am not certain - even though Joolz offers a fantastic service for the price BUT if you do all of the above you might as well just buy a 4.5.....may end up being a better decision...have a look around- and most impoortantly go drive both more than once and more than one demostrator to get a feel for them.....

Bugger - It's all a little too much for my excited head to take in ...............Do I just want the lights or shall I go for the 4.5? I think I'd better speak to the bank manager!

Anyway, the whole thing relies on a new job contract so I've got about 2 months to make up my mind.

Cheers,

Rob

I had the full front and rear Zertec light conversion it's Fantastic I went for a split HID / Xenon set-up and it lit-up most of Warwickshire. Honestly, it's brighter than a very bright thing :-) The change to the car is dramatic, it looks so much better now. Even my cynical mates who said your spending "how much" on new lights said it was worth it for both looks and function. The Afterburner rears are good too sooooooooo much better than the old Ford lights. I think the fronts look better than in photos but the rears look slightly worse in real life than in the
photo's, in daylight anyway, at night they look ace.

The finish looks great Fulford body shop did a great job. I certainly couldn't see the join :-) The paint
match looked spot-on too. And, everything is working as it should. Given the massive improvement to the car it's easily added £2000 to the asking price IMO so I've even made some money on the deal :-)

Remember only a few 4.5 Cerberas have the TVR headlights (the LW model) so there are many more 4.5s with the standard (read poor) headlights.

We do a special brake upgrade kit for Cerberas with 18 inch wheels: 370mm fully floating discs with 8-pot calipers from Brembo motorsport division (they are the WRC Focus tarmac spec brakes). They aren't cheap, but they are the best without doubt.

OK, I'm talking on a Chim and about 48 hours experience but the tyres on mine (SO3's are superb, altho' compared to what you may ask!). Brand new mind, so I'd expect them to be!

Don't know about on a Cerb tho'
