Yet another LS...

Same same, but different. It's been nearly 4 years in the making but will be finished this year (no, seriously).
Started with the purchase of an engineless burnt out '96 4.2 that was a Cat B write off and destined for the knackers yard. (No AJP Cerbera was harmed in the making of this...) It followed me home to NZ later that year.
Much done, and quite a bit still to do. Off for roll cage fitting soon.

The colour scheme is planned to be along the lines of this:

Nice work Omerta, I remember seeing the pictures of the burnt out wreck when you started the project.
Are you going make it street legal for New Zealand, or use it as a track car?
Love the duck egg blue Gulf colour scheme you are planning, think it would be good even just in plain Duck Egg, real classic racer colour.
Finally love your workshop, tell me that's not you home garage! guess land is a bit cheaper out there and you get a lot more for your money? girlfriend has been busting my balls about living in NZ for years, guess might be tempted if I could get a spread like that!

Yeah come on Don, pull yer finger out. What you been doin' for the last four years

Looking good mate, did you finish off the exhaust manifolds??
Just trying to upload a vid of mine running will post it up later this evening.
Rich.
That'll be one cool cool car when it's done and it's great to see a Cerb saved from the scrapheap. (Same but different) I think your car is totally unique; LS engine, front and I expect rear spoilers, roll caged and a colour scheme found on no other TVR. Yes, there are things about it to be found on others but as a package, unique. Will that be the only Cerbera in Kiwiland? Will it be road legal? (I hope so). Can I have your workshop?
Good luck gettng it finished and keep posting your progress. Unless you want to keep it for a grand reveal.

Erich - yes street legal, for racing in Targa events (www.targa.co.nz) and the odd track sprint. No smash & bash racing.
Not my home workshop unfortunately - it's a local bodyshop / car builder. Come on out, most people who come out to try it don't leave
Brummie -
Rich - exhaust is pretty much done, we just need to check how much clearance we've got under the remote oil filter bypass before the final bit of welding.

There are 3 other Cerbs here though I've only seen one.

Not quite - there's a Gulf scheme old-style Griffith out there. I was never a fan of the Gulf livery until I saw Aston's Le Mans cars. Something about the use of black at the bottom and the wing just ties it all together. Bit lairy for road use, but never mind

14 years on from the last project update, it's perhaps time for a thread revival.
My Cerb project stalled at about the stage shown in this 2009 thread while I got married, moved, did some motor racing, moved, had kids, moved, moved, moved, and now semi-retired. This fire damaged Cerb I brought back to NZ with me (purchased off Plasticman / Dave in 2005 - are you still here Dave?) has followed me from shed to garage to shed, waiting for me to have either the time or the money to do something with it. This year, its time has come!
So... it's now in the hands of a classic restoration outfit in Blenheim (top of the South Island) who are well qualified for the job after doing hundreds of Cobras and lots of unique one-off projects. Check out their gallery here https://www.classicandcustom.co.nz/
The first challenge was to get it certified as a vehicle by our DVLA equivalent which was far from certain, but thankfully now done so the real work can start. So far it's just had the body prepped for paint and undercoated, not much to see that's different to the photos here. I'll post more pics when there's some progress.
Colour is decided - will be a blue on black base similar to this Cobra
The important question I've come here to ask you guys about is what custom plate to get for it. In NZ we're limited to 6 letters/numbers. This website lets you enter what you want and see if it's available or not. https://www.kiwiplates.nz/create/
In no particular order some available options I'm thinking of are:
SIR B
DEUSEX
CERB
CERBRA
CERBUS
KERBUS
Any other inspiring ideas?

Would that work?
Hi Don,
No number plate ideas, but good to see the project is still alive. I think we met many years ago (did you have a Tamora as well?), I'm from Wellington with a Yellow Cerbera, but was living around Reading at the time. I was intending to take mine back to NZ, but I never returned and moved to Suffolk instead.
I'm planning to do a body-off on mine this winter, but will keep the AJP V8.

Hi Simon (Sparrow iirc ?). Nice to hear from you mate, and that you and your Cerb are still together.
Honestly if I could have an AJP in it I would but it was gone already from the fire wreck I brought home.
Pretty quiet here these days compared to 20 years ago. Where is everyone, or has everything there is to say about Cerbs been said already!
