oil light illuminated
Discussion
I had similar, it turned out to be nothing but worth getting it checked before you go to far to prevent any damage to the engine.
From memory the pressure guage and the oil warning light use two different sensors, therefore if both register the same you have a major problem, if only one is out then you may have a problem but may not.
(mine was the reverse, no pressure on gauge but no warning light.)

Look out, are you ready to get flamed? Can't remember whether it is Steve or Peter but am surprised we've not yet seen the customary STOP ENGINE IMMEDIATELY good advice.
Guess that the problem is that the low oil pressure warning is faulty because 'before you go too far' is not an option with no oil pressure. Oil pressure (on the gauge) responding to engine revs is reasonable backup indication to the fact that you did a mile without major damage but agree that you should get it checked asap.
