Sometimes when I turn left (maybe on a slight gradiant) I get this knocking noise from the front drivers side, Any ideas?

Have you had your suspension checked/changed as part of the TVR recall !!

Just had this fixed (?) on mine. For me it occured 4 times, usually when the car was really warm. Got the feeling through the steering wheel that a bearing was loose and a knocking under the drivers feet.

Fernies tried last week to get it to re-occur but couldn't. They did however notice that the 'off side trailing rear drop link' (hope I got that right) had some movemet in it when the car was warm. They replaced it and I have done 250 miles in it this weekend without the problem re-occuring.

No I haven't, Didn't know I had to!

Makes no difference hot or cold. No vibrations under feet, just sounds like somethings rubbing. Tighter the turn, more it rubs.

Mycerb - you seem to be having quite a few problems (niggles?)? Hope you dont end up spending too much to get it all sorted. The pre-98 cerbs are a bit of a minefield (more of a minefield).

I know! I'm only 24 and need to run it on a budget! Hope I don't have to get rid of it.

According to your profile you have owned more cars than than a 70 yr old.
Good luck with the car. Did you buy it private? Have you asked the last owner for details re all the probs he knows of?

I know! Used to be able to change cars alot when I lived at home! Then bought a house and a mazda, now wanted another fast car. (the fastest!! but in debt for the next 7yrs! Huge loan)
Yeh private sale, bloke only had in 3 months and just spent £2000 on it before decideing he wanted an M3 instead.
He didn't know of any probs, only payed £17k for it with 39000 on the clock. Maybe i will have to try and get my money back later in the year!

mycerbera, the recall is something to do with the front suspension, would contact your local dealer asap, I think there is a thread about this subject in the Cerbera section.

Is it a free fix?

Yep it is free - TVR recall - had mine done and all is fine. I suggest you get it in to be done asap (the front suspension uprights crack!). If the previous owner had it done there should be a sticker over the VIN plate at the front of the engine bay. They may find something else if you are getting other probs but at least you will know!!

Is it on the standard correct wheels, if not, or the tyres are wider it may be rubbing the edge of the tyre on the inside of the wheel arch.

Worth putting it on full lock to check, TMS fitted me some rack limit stops when i swapped the wheels on my last cerb, but from memory i think my first early cerb used to do this as well.

Mycerbera,

Don't want to p1ss on your fire, but it sounds like you might have bought a bit of a lemon?
Didn't you get it checked out by anyone before you parted with cash?
Alarm bells should have been ringing when the PO spent that much and then got rid of it.

Anyway, I sincerely hope its nothing serious and you have better luck with your Cerb in the future.

No it's not a lemon! Just a few teething problems and lack of knowledge of what's normal and not normal with these cars!! It's back at Webbs now with a list of things to check out, and then it should be 100% (Anyway how can you say that any Cerbera could be a lemon! It's a BEAST!!)

Mycerbera, is the noise on tight corners when you are going reasonably fast? If so, it *might* just be the cats rubbing against the chasis (they are packed in quite tight). If you get it on the ramps at your dealer you can see any telltale rubbing marks on the chassis by quick visual inspection...
