Alarm

I had only one alarm fob (which didn't work) when I got the car, and so sent off for 2 new ones. On getting the new ones it says to put into "learn "mode use old key fob 16 times. But of course this doesn’t work! So I'm stuck on what to do! Am I going to have to buy a new alarm control unit with 2 pre-programmed fobs? Or is there a way of disconnecting the old one and programming the new ones in? And where is the Alarm/Immobiliser box located? Please help!

I'm afraid that you are correct. You require one functioning remote fob for the replcement ones' to learn from. You could try to trace the missing spare fob, otherwise it's replace the alarm unit complete. Depending on the age of the car it has a Meta M99T and M36T system, or later cars are designated T2. Sometimes it is possible to remove the alarm unit and wipe the existing code and then re-program it. This is time consuming and also relies on the memory not being full. Spend some time on the existing original fob you may be able to get it working.

Missing one is long gone I think!
If I get a new alarm unit complete. (a Meta M99T or a M36T system) Is it just a case of unplug the old and plug in the new and it works instantly or is they’re more to it than that? Therefore better to let a dealer do it?

Tried to get original working but IC is damaged I think.
