Back in 1997/8 when the factory first started racing the Cerbera GT (in Touche Ross colours - remember?)it appeared in all the race programmes as supposedly having a 5 litre version of the AJP8 especially developed for GT racing, putting out about the same power as the race Tuscans (c. 470 bhp) but with a much fatter and healthier torque curve. On enquiring the factory were non-committal about such an engine, especially when I suggested that I'd like it in my 4.5 which was then on order. Anyone know the facts about this engine - if it even really existed??

It does (did?) exist; only thing I know is that it was fitted to a Tuscan race car...
Anyway I read here the factory was working on 4,7 and 5,0 version of the speed eight. I don't know if that's true though...

I believe there were a few 5 litre engines built and used on road and track by TVR only.

How about a campaign by owners to get TVR to put it on an options list or for retrofit or conversion? If the drivetrain could stand it, 470 bhp and over 400 ft/lbs of torque seems verrrrry appealing . Mind you, there would have to be some bodymods to accomodate proper tyres (285+ section)instead of the bicycle jobs currently fitted!!

By the way, 2 sheds, are you Arthur "2 sheds" Jackson of python fame . If so, do you still have two sheds or have you sold one making you "one shed" jackson. (Sorry to readers for this off topic post but once a python, always a python)
