I received an alarming renewal notice from my insurer Admiral this morning. They put my premium up from £900 to £2300.

Peart quoted me £1017, but Tesco was the cheapest with £786 including ncb protection and track day cover (roll on elvington ).

I'm 33 with 7yrs ncb. one sp30 last year and one claim for an accident (first ever).

Bit of a no brainer. Shame since I've been with Admiral for 7 years and they were always the cheapest.

Try Sunninghill, TVR specialists 01276 474844, For my Cerb it is about 800 odd quid, protected no claims, class one business use, you get breakdown, track days etc.

Oliver are you going to be at elvington this Sat (2nd)? _ I'll be there, non TVR event with bookatrack.

BTW I was quoted £1300 for a new mini cooper! Got it for £350 from elephant.co.uk in the end.

Oliver,

Is the track cover limited in any way. If not the tesco deal sounds fantastic.

How do you know Tesco do track days? They appear to use Privilege/Direct Line to underwrite and provide their policies. I only ask as I have a Privilge policy and want to see if I might be covered.

When I got my last quote from Mannings for my Cerbera it was about £585 so I decided to shop around and got a quote from Norwich Union Direct for £464 (full comp, max NCB etc). I've just changed to a new Griff 500 and had to pay an extra £39 'til September - not bad I think. About the only good thing about getting old is lower insurance premiums (I've just gone the wrong side of 50). Worth giving them a try.

Admiral quoted £950 no track cover, called Sunninghill who quoted £868 with track cover (30, protected 7yr NCB) for 4 month old Speed 6. Still awaiting Cheam renewal, they were cheapest last year.

No I'm not going to elvington this Saturday, but for the tvrcc event on March 2nd. Only problem is I don't have a helmet.

I don't fancy buying one as I will only use it once or twice a year. Can you rent them anywhere ?

As far as Tesco insurance and track days, I asked if Tesco insurance covered track days, the person I was speaking to didn't know and went away to ask the underwriters who confimed that they did.
