Can anyone help out. I'm looking for a specialist in the Oxfordshire/Bucks/Glocestershire area for precision wheel balancing. I'm not talking about your average hack at ATS etc. but somebody who can balance in both radial and axial planes to 1 gram tolerance. If they can balance on the car then even better! I just can't get the shakes out of the beast. Anyone else experiencing balance problems on their Cerbera 4.5 with the standard 17 inch wheel??

I am having some tyres delivered tomorrow and am just planning to go to my local tyre place (Chessington tyres) to get them fitted to my Cerbera (with 18inch rims). Do Cerbies really need such scientific balancing!!!??

I'm having trouble getting a set of 18s balanced .. change the wheels for another set and it's perfect, no obvious damage or run out on the wheels, tyres not flat spotted .. bummer ..

Do they still do balancing on the car? I once had a set of wheels on a Porsche balanced on the car, the guy reckoned it was worth it because (for obvious reasons) it included any inbalance in the discs etc. Guess you need to spot-mark the wheel/hubs then whenever you remove the wheels? R...

Gary, keep an eye on them. They're normally very good there but always tell them what pressure you want in the tyres (34psi made for interesting handling once) and there was a new guy there two weeks ago who tried to put my S03 on in the wrong direction!

I had the wheels balanced on the car about 18 months ago by my dealer (Henley) who were doing some trials on some very fancy computerised on-car balancing kit. The result was staggering - absolutely smooth running up to stupid speeds (like 187 mph indicated on the Aachen to Mainz run ... oh for unrestricted autobahns in the UK). Unfortunately, the balancing kit was very expensive so Henley didn't purchase it and when new tyres were fitted at Micheldever it was back to square one. So anyone out there with knowledge of where it can be done on car??

Afraid so, at least with 17 inch 4.5 wheels anyway. To my personal knowledge I know of 5 4.5 owners with identical problems. The whole front suspension set-up appears to be very, very sensitive indeed. As my 4.2 never gave any problems and the suspension set-up is basically the same, I can only assume that the problem lies within some tolerance issues within the wheel/brake/hub assembly unique to the 4.5.
