I love my S6, now had it for 18 months and love it to bits but it needs to be louder. One option is upgrade to a 4.5 but this is costly and as I have a well sorted S6, I would rather stick with it for now.

So has anyone any coments or experience on what is better for a decent exhaust note on an S6 - a sports exhaust or de-cat?

Also, any recommendations on where to get a sports exhaust that is competitivley priced, I have seen recommedations for Fernies & Peninsula.

Thanks

Don't know about S6, but I just got a sports exhaust for my 4.2 from Wedge Automotive - £425 all in inc. vat and carriage.
Heard a 4.5 with sports exhaust on Sunday so I just had to do it.
I ordered it on Monday at 11.30 and it arrived with me on Wednesday morning. Getting it fitted tomorrow and I can't wait

Hi Kris

I had a sports exhaust on my Speed Six and it sounded great, I then went a stage further and had it de-catted and it became to loud very noisy on motorway and always lots of explosions.... depends on how far it will be driven etc as it became too much for me.
Great for setting off the neighbours car alarm though

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Lee

My S6 came with a sports exhaust and it sounds the absolute dogs, deep bass at low revs followed by a lovely howl as the revs rise and the popping and crackling as you back off is awesome.....never ever have the CD on and I always drive with the window down. I nearly brought a 4.5 with a sports exhaust before my S6 but to be honest, preffered the sound and power delivery of the S6 over the 4.5. Mind you it is broke at the mo'........ Sports exhaust, you will NOT regret it

Excellent, sounds like the sports exhaust is the right way to go. I think that a de-cat as well would be too loud so wanted one or the other.

Next question is who to get it from, Peninsula do one for £200 but they are a long way from me so would have to get them to deliver it, if so where could i get it fitted and how much would it cost for fitting? Also, it seems important to get a well designed system so that the power output is not affected for the worse. Why is the peninsula version so cheap in comparison to the Wedge Auto version for example?

My 4.5 is normal exhaust but de-catted. Pops and crackles (and spits flames) and sounds great but is quiet when you want it that way. Some say this is a better approach.

Kris,

I have a sports exhaust on my 4.5 and it sounds fantastic - the neighbours hate it but I love it!! Took it to my local TVR meet on Wednesday and everyone confirmed sounds the mutts nuts!!

Got it fitted by David Batty in Compton just off the A3 near Guildford and would recommend him to anyone - Tel:01483 -811995. Cost £495.00 including fitting and is worth every penny!!

Go for it!!

All the best

This is what confuses me is the difference in prices, is there a significant difference in quality? Why do prices range from £250 to £500?

Also, never heard of david Batty in Guildford, is this a specialist?

Thanks

David Batty is a TVR specialist and has been for many years - if you go to Chimaera section and look under "Just think he deserves a mention" you will see what I mean. He also does all the work for Adrian Blyth and many people use him for servicing and looking after their cars follow the link

He is very good - take my word for it

Best Regards
