Any ideas how much these cost to buy? I have a 3yr old 4.5 Cerbera and am considering buying a warranty. Where do you buy them - from a dealer and pay a big mark up?!

Hmmm 3 years old is ripe for a few minor yet inexplicably expensive faults. A good warranty is worth its weight in gold. Dont always go 4 the cheapest as a £100 saving may not cover a £1000 fault due to small print! Try ringing 'Warranty Holdings' directly 4 a discount. I dont have the number to hand but i'm sure someone on the list will have.
Good Luck.

if you ring warranty holdings directly, then they will probably keep you on hold for about 10 mins, then talk cr4p before telling you its not covered and hanging up.

Sour me, no

I have a two year warranty holdings policy which I transferred from the previous owner - This is on Dec 97 Cerbera - they were very helpful on the phone and all documents received no problem. I havn`t made any claims yet so cannot comment on claims history but the phone number is 01992-652277 should you want it.

All the best

Just bear in mind- if it's over 3 years old usually the max for one claim is £1000. Certainly true for WH.

Not so, my car came supplied from the dealer with a WH policy that covers any single claim up to the value of the car it is now approx 4 years old with the warranty still in place. Having said that the largest claim to date was £700 so it is untested.

Thanks for the help. For info the WH number for TVR warranty purchases etc = 0800 103040. They want me to fax through the service history before they will quote (the car has done 54K in 3 yrs so that might be why). They cant send me any details of what is covered. After I have faxed the details of S Hist they will verbally confirm what is covered. Not sure I trust them!

gazzab, I called them at the start of the week and they quoted me £295.00 for 12 months cover. I have a griff 500 5 years old with 28000 miles on the clock. They also asked for the service records to be faxed through before they could cover me. I didn't think that the price was too bad, they said just about everything was covered up to the value of the car but they couldn't give me any written details, this always worries me as surely they can change whats covered at anytime?

Just in the process of having my Cerb S6 serviced (24 Mth). Need replacement alternator, dealer called WHL and they agreed with no arguments. Just saved me £223 + vat + labour. This is my first claim and pleased that it went through, no questions asked.

I would recommend a warranty based upon experiences so far.

Just called WH for a quote on my 1998 fully serviced Cerbera. £520 for one year or £865 for 2 years. Maximum limit of £1000 per claim. Is it worth it?

they wouldnt even give me a quote without seeing the S/hist in advance (weird - could see that being reqd to go 'on risk'). It appears that only some of WH's customres have a £1k limit. If that is the case when they offer me a policy then I will not bother - it aint worth it.

Note, the quote given to me was an 'indicative' phone quotation. I would still have had to send them copies of service records before getting a final quote.

There does however seem to be inconsistency in the responses WH are providing when called.

How do these warranties work?

I suppose you by £500 for 2 years for example, and any service / issues you have over those years are totaly covered by the warranty? You fit the bill for the work and then apply for it back from your warranty company?

If this is the case, how come all Cerbera owners don't have one? They don't seem 'that' expensive for all the piece of mind it will give, especially reading about the horror stories.

What about wear and tear, how does this fit into the equation, surely anything could be argued as 'normal wear and tear'

Thanks in advance for anyones thoughts/experiences.

Kind Regards...
