I'm a prospective TVR owner and have already test-driven a Chimaera 4.0 and was extremely impressed.

I'd like to drive one for more than just a short test drive, and would also like to try a Cerbera 4.5. (Common sense tells me to buy the Chimaera as I only graduated in July and don't think I can afford the running costs of a Cerbie but I thought I'd try one and make an educated decision!) The idea of hiring one for a day occured to me, but I can't find anywhere that will let me hire one out because I'm 24 - can anyone help?

Cheers.

Don't think It will be possible unless you can arrange your own insurance.

Also,

www.platinum-hire.co.uk

Suppose that because of your age, the actual rates will be different from those advertised on the site.

As far as I know there is a rather large difference in running costs between a Cerbera and a Chimaera / Griffith. Insurance might be a bit steep as well! But then, if you can afford it !
Have fun

Thanks for the links - I had a look around but it looks like the chances of me hiring one out in the next six years are remote! ;o(

Anyway, I've decided to go for a Chimp 4.0. There's a nice 99T in Crimson Starmist with 19k on the clock at my local TVR dealer for £21,995 which seems very reasonable. Opinions?

I was put off the Cerbie by the list of horror stories on these forums - I think I'll wait until I have a more substantial disposable income!

Anyone got any opinion on Chimaeras being hard to sell on? I know this is always the case in Autumn/Winter but I wouldn't have expected any difficulty in the spring/summer even with them not being a 'current' car any more?

Cheers again for your help.
