No cerb yet for me but all the info from other members on this site is extremely useful.
When I take the plunge I will have to decide whether to leave it out at night (private gated driveway) or turf the MG out of the garage and let it dissolve.
Security aside, are cerbs likely to suffer greatly from not being garaged ? If so, what are the likely probs ?.
I guess insurance will be affected too, but any ideas what sort of % increase ?

My Cerbera lived outside over winter, and I had no problems. I even bought a car cover for it, but rarely used it as the car was used more or less everyday. It stood up to a grim northern winter better that our Land Rover – Cerberas can be very resilient and reliable machines you know!

Only issue was getting the doors open on freezing mornings (window needs to drop first) - solved this with some silicon lubricant.

As for insurance and garages I found that no discount was officered when I moved to a house with a garage. In fact the insurance underwriters actually put up the premium, even though I was moving to an area with substantially less crime! When looking for renewals with other companies a large number quoted little or no difference in cost if the car was on the street, garaged or guarded by a pack of hounds. I think the companies seem to ask you this as another way to catch you out if they come to pay out, and you’ve told porkies that it is garaged in the belief this will reduce the premium. Worth shopping around then……

Cheers,
Tommo

A couple of years back my S2 insurance went up when I decided to put it in the garage. There was me thinking it would go down only to be told that the risk had gone up due to the increased likelyhood of accidential damage e.g paint spillage, bashing with ladders etc.

And guess what? A few weeks ago, I forgot that my mountain bike was at the end of the garage when I drove the Cerb in. Nice scratch from a jagged alloy pedal just below the front grill . I now have a Mr Agger badge on the fron too!

Nick.

I could have told you mountain biking was a dangerous sport !
Seriously though, I think it's a joke the way the insurance companies make up the rules as they go along. Not making enough money ? - whack up the premium and problem solved !
