Hello to you all...
I have been lurking in the background for a long while now reading all I could get my hands on about the trials and tribulations of owning a TVR and keeping myself to myself in the ooh and ahh process....

Anyhows in May after a long and hard search and with a limited budget I took the plunge and got me a 96 4.2 Cerbera in a dark purplish sort of colour.

All I can say is OH MY GOD its totally crazy and thanks to all of you who unwittingly helped convince me to do the best thing I've ever done.....

Can't stop grinning, I'm a bit scared they might lock me up cause they think I'm nuts!!!

Thanks guys..

I just posted a pic in my profile...

Really not too sure what purple its supposed to be, any ideas ?? Its listed in my TVR handbook as Chianti.

I have now developed the not so bad habit of forgetting things so I have to take it for a spin, and as I'm currently living in Germany.... well need I say more. ha ha ha Already waved seeya to a porker

Just trying to think of another excuse to nip onto the AutoBahn, any ideas ??

Hi John,

Although no longer a custodian of such a beastie, such was/is my love for the damn thing that I feel an insperable affinity for the things and simply cannot help myself from fervent salutations to any and all who indulge therein.

Lovely piece of kit and a classic early Cerb colour.

What condition is the interior and what's up on the odo, if you don't mind my asking? I just cannot help sensing the inevitability of the Cerbera tractor beam, reeling me back in again: I mean my God - the prices now are just insane!

Is yours with a sports exhaust and/or decatted? Please, whack a few more photos up if you can (rear three quarter view?) - sexiest car ever? Highly possible.

Urgh...

Hey,

Its got just over 13k and in general the interior is in pretty good nick. Its kind of tan leather meets burgandy which at first I thought had to go but its completely grown on me.. Only thing is the leather on the drivers seats is worn and needs re-doing. Exhaust is the standard and I'm gonna keep it that way for the time being...

First thing I want to get is a set of Nitrons and then maybe a set of 18's... But right now all I want to do is play

John! Thanks very much - that second shot is wonderful...the seats aren't apparently a huge job (I'm sure much advice can be gleened round here).

Only 13k miles? Remarkable! But do you know if it is exhausted as per my previous query? If not, I'm a great believer in decatting them (small, inexpensive and easily reversible [at MOT time] job...); the ubiquitously documented "pop & bang on the overrun" factor makes just about everything this side of a V8 'rarri sound tame.

You simply have to take it to the South of France using some of their D and A-routes...it's one of the great motoring experiences.

What an inspirational shape and an altogether magnificent creation. Bloody superb.

Congrats on the car, you and I both joined the 96 section of the club,
although yours has 1/3 my mileage - is that good or bad though?!

Lucky you to be in Germany, I may have to come visit!

Reason to hit the road? - come to PistonFest Sunday!

Throw the cats away!!! (well at least keep them for the mot, the difference is well worth the 1/2 hr spent under the car)

It looks like Rolex Purple to me, whats the paint code?

What excuse do you need to go on the autobann?
1. You have a cerb
2. you are there
3. it would be rude not to
4. It has to be done!!!

What more do you need.

I did indeed after it was given a thorough inspection by Rob Ingleby and some quite heavy price slashing !!!!

It still has its cats at the moment, but maybe just maybe when I come back to the UK i might have them taken off... Everyone seems to say it makes the world of difference to the noise, but what happens when you get stopped by the BIB and they realise ????

Nice car Jnr. I have the same exterior colour as you I think, and it was called Prowler Purple IIRC. It think that is down to the specs in the paintwork, but couldn't be sure.

Mine is also a '96 4.2, and there is no other car that I could think of that I would enjoy being in more.

Happy Motoring!!

Very nice, Jnr! All the best people have purple Cerbs, dontchaknow. Ours is a 1997 4.2, in Techno Violet. Very similar to your purple.

Hm... just how many TVR purples are there??

A question for you - how can a 13K miles car have worn seats? Did the previous owner wear sandpaper rather than trousers? I would have thought that cerbera seats would be good for a few more miles before they look tatty enough to require connolisation.??

It's not the seat thats bad, its the stiching on the side support thats been worn in the process of getting in and out causing it to tear....

I think with a Cerby everyone and their grandmothers want to get in and have a look out of complete fascination... Who knows.... The mileage is genuine, I hope !!!

Jnr when I looked at the car it had a substantial pond in the drivers footwell complete with fish and a fountain. This put me off a bit, did you get it sorted?
