My car has been standing for a few weeks.
When I drove it today after a few miles the steering became almost impossible to move and very noisy(grating noise)
The dealers not there tommorrow. Anyone have any expoerience of this + anything I can try. In the past the steering has become stiff ad the U/J has needed lubrication. Does this sound like the same problem only worse ?

Thanks#

Andy

I noticed similar effects last summer when my 4.5 dropped all power steering fluid after a seal in the rack (?) had broken. I could still drive it at a reasonable speed, but manoeuvring at low speed was impossible. Can't remember a grating noise however....

Check your powersteering fluid level. If mine drops off the end of the dipstick (just below min) I get all sorts of strange noises in the car....

I have had an S, a Griffith and a Cerbera and all three have developed a stiff steering at some time in their lives. Usually it first mainfests itself as an unexpected desire to lock on a straight road and a sudden lurch as you force the wheel to follow a sweeping bend. Alarming at speed on a MWay if this is where it happens ! All three were due to a stiff UJ in the steering column. I found that a liberal dose of oil and some vigourous exercise (preferably while the car is stationary!)fixes it but a replacement and more regular lubrication is the more reliable cure.

After gettig in touch with Team Pro-
they think that the bushes in the top of the steering rack have gone. Te fluid is just about on the bottom of the dipstick.
The noise comes from just behind tye steering wheel and is very reminisent of a U/J cease up.
I think the tow trucks booked for thursday.
I think I'm doomed to drive this thing this year.
