What does the S in Cooper S stand for?
Discussion
S = Sh*t, of the ignorant type, apparently. Usual commute to work this morning when a Cooper S decided to cut me up at a 2 to 1 lane convergance. In so doing he scraped my nearside front wing and then.. unbelievably.. didn't pull over! In fact, he carried on his phone conversation and drove off.
Needless to say he didn't get very far before I made my feelings on the subject known to him. He claims he didn't even know he had hit me. Which I believed for all of a nanosecond. He also claims to have friends who drive Cerberas.
So, if you are a Cerbera owner who knows an ignorant git that drives a blue Mini Cooper s in Southampton, you may like to review your opinion of him.
It makes no difference what car you drive - if you hit someone it is an offence not to stop. It is a serious offence to use a mobile phone AND hit someone at the same time. This guy is an(other) accident waiting to happen - he showed no remorse and I have no doubt he wouldn't think twice about doing it to someone else.
May be I should call the police after all?

Beej, sorry to read about your incident. I too have noticed several new mini drivers whizzing about thinking they own the road, and thinking their cars are the fastest things on it.
Muppets.
In relation to your point about calling the police or not, I have vowed to always involve the police when insurance details need to be swapped as I was rear-ended some years ago only to find out later that the car was stolen and therefore the insurance and contact details he gave me were false. The guy seemed very genuine at the time, but given that I only had 3rd Party insurance, I was fooked!

Well I can assure you not all mini drivers, new or old (we have both) are twats on the road. Did you manage to get his details etc?
Oh and by the way when John Cooper developed the original S they didn’t want to call it a Cooper Sports as to many other manufacturers were using ‘sport’ so they simply called it the S

Paul, trust you to know the entire documented history of the Mini!! Of course, this one was a BMW Mini not a "real" Mini (I can say that can't I?).
The driver turned out to be involved with Southampton Football Club so I can track him down easily enough.
Paul, are you going to Combe on Friday with the Griff? Is anyone else on here going?

Glad you got his details, I'm sure he can pay for a full respray
Only got the Griff back on Saturday after having the engine rebuilt so won’t be doing any track days in it for a while, will be doing Goodwood in the Mini in August though as on of the mini clubs is doing the full day for around £30, to cheap to miss! Will have to be in the old one though as the new one isn’t insured for track use, yet!
Will be going to combe on Saturday though.
