My car is going back on saturday to have the things on the last service that was missed sorted out. Its still running crap by the way. Was having a nose under the bonnet and tried to determine if the pots are at fault. With the engine ticking over removing the lead to righthand bank throttle pot has no effect on the engine, however removing lefthand bank causes the engine to splutter for a fraction of a second then back to normal. Now I understand that the ecu compensates for a pot going down, but what does my little test prove? Wouldn't removing the righthand one have the same effect?

Your test doesn't really prove anything I'm afraid. You need the laptop and some AJP tuning experience (which not all dealers have!)
