Been getting quotes on a 4.2 Cerbera over the last month and initially Sunninghill came up with a very nice £513.00 with £250 Excess.

However, as of June 1st, they can no longer offer the old deal.
Same car is now £878.00 with £500 excess

Seems they have had 3 million pounds of Tuscan claims in the last year...

Having spoken to the so called specialists, who now comes out with the best price???

TESCO!

£736.00 with £250 excess

You could all be in for a shock next time around, so start saving!

Try A Manning, by far the cheapest for me. You do need to join the TVR Owners Club.

Tesco is just a white labelling (branding) of Privilige. They are a few % cheaper than Priv.
Brokers can get good deals that include trackdays and sharing no claims bonus between cars.
so the cheapest premium isnt always the best deal.

Check what you're getting on the quote. When I got a quote from Tesco, AA cover was extra, and track day cover wasn't an option at all. Mannings only cover TVRCC track days (which are a lot more expensive than some non-CC track days). The difference in price between a TVRCC track day and a TMS one would cover the difference in your premium.

Err, even allowing for £50k per Tuscan claim (assuming that they were all completely written off) doesn't that equate to 60 whole cars? Can't be right.

I work for Sunninghill and I think 3 million is a bit of an exageration, but it is fair to say that the Tuscans have dwarfed all the other models put together when it comes to claims. I'll try to find out some figures if anyone is interested.

Unfortunately these claims have lead to the underwriters revisiting the rating of our scheme, the idea being that they will charge more for adverse risks and driver profiles, if someone is 'squeaky' clean nothing should have changed much.

Well that's the idea anyway.....

We do have a rather impressive claim on our account for about 2m at the moment, but the undweriters see this as a 'freak' occurence and do not incorporate this into their figures.

Sadly the idea is not working...
I'm 40, a company director, 18 years no claims etc etc
and it jumped £365 plus and extra £250 excess in two weeks.

Perhaps you can pass that back, they lost me as a
customer and will no doubt lose many more, but then again, if all TVR owners are now branded 'high risk' as it seems, do they care?

Not sure I want to go into great detail, especialy in light of Stas's very recent tragic loss.

It is basically a rather large third party injury case, details of which do not make light reading. Unfortunately these things happen, which is one of the reasons we have insurance.

TESCO unfortunatly i have a problem with them at the moment (legal? but not insurance) and you may want to read this www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp? thread regarding a TESCO claim (i hope that worked) As the old saying goes your insurance company are only as good as the last claim ? or something like that. Tony
no the link didn,t work try the Tuscan forum about mk1 and mk2 chassis

Thanks for the feedback folks.
So far on your advice, Tesco have been ditched (yes no track days, only 3 days overseas cover, and a £160 hike for one modifcation.)

Current race leaders are now Peart.

Anyone want to tell me any different?

Norwich union direct did me the best quote back in Sept. +/- £ 600 including business use. Not too sure about the track day situation. I paid an extra £40 as the exhaust was non standard non catalytic!

Norwich Union will do trackdays on request, but you have to pay per event, I'm not sure how much this is, it's worth checking though.

If you're using it as a second car you could consider a limited mileage policy. I have one with Classic Line - 5000 miles pa for £450 with no NCB

Sunninghill include track day cover, or used to. This certainly makes up for a few hundred pounds extra if you're planning on doing any.
