Hey guys, just viewed my first cerbera the other day there, and fell in love. But noticed a lot of stone chips on the front of the motor! a LOT of chips!
Can I ask is the front bodywork quite easy to stone chip?

Billy.

Fiberglass chips very easily. No real cure except amourfending the front end and wing mirrors. Amourfend is a bit like clear sticky back plastic (blue peter fan here) I helps to cushion the blows and in theory stop the paint from chipping.

I think the TVRBodyShop is using a new Rubberised Stone Guard which is applied underneath the paint work. Haven't seen it in the flesh yet so I'd be interested to know if anyone out there has had it done.

Just had my cerb back from its headlight conversion and I decided to have the rubberised stone chip protection coat applied.
Too early to say how good it is yet but I have not picked any up on the lower part of the car so far.

As for the work that was done, BIG list of problems!! some of them quite scary too. Think very carefully about where you have yours done is my advice.

Anyone that wants to know more is welcome to e mail me.

Matt101, if its scary we all need to know about it, do the shaming without the naming!

The Cerb I chose to buy was in need of a front end respray and as the seller had agreed to pay for this, I had a search through the forums here and found details of a "reputable" bodyshop.

I decided to go for the front end conversion and stone chip protector at my cost.

The work took 3 weeks to complete and cost around £1,400.00.

The following is a list of problems that I have noted so far

On collection I noticed a large chip just below the front nearside indicator. This was touched up.

Inner engine bay cover was mis-aligned.
One of the side lights inoperative. This had fallen out at the back.
Glue of some descrption showing all around headlight pods.
Evidence of a touch up on the front wing (remembering that this was meant to be fresh paint!)
Numerous blemishes in the paint.
Overspray in the engine bay.
Razor blade found in the engine bay.
New light bulb in engine bay.
Scratches to under side of exhaust.
Bonnet not locked down.

And now for the scary bit........

Both bonnet hinge bolts left in engine bay meaning bonnet was completely un attached to anything!!!!!
I drove the car 130 miles like this.

Called the chap that runs the place with my list. Received a half apology for the bonnet and excuses, denial and claims of being "very busy" for the rest of my problems!

Well, Im an understanding chap and if I ever see an opportunity to help, Im there. Actually, I think I may be able to help them with the unfortunate problem of being "very busy" at the moment..... hence my post

I know Im not allowed to name the place in question and understand the reasons behind this but I would dearly love to tell you all. I have already received an e mail from a PHer that has suffered very similar problems to mine and Im sure that there will be more.

In short, I wouldnt expect this kind of attitude and workmanship from a cheapo backstreet sprayshop let alone a supposed specialist!!

rant over!

As for the car itself.....cant stop looking at it, cant stop going on pointless drives in it, cant stop holding it at 3k on overrun, cant stop buying optimax, cant sleep, cant concentrate at work, cant believe its mine!!!!!!!!...........
