Picked up my Cerbera 4.5 last week and have just managed to prize myself out of the thing (had to come to work

What a truly amazing Car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Found a couple of posts on here explaining how to check the oil level but despite multiple attempts, all I seem to get is oil all over the stick!!

Can anyone tell me what Im doing wrong here????

Matt,

I only seem to get a good reading on the back of the dip-stick. You have to pull it out quite slowly too

I have exactly the same problem and just keep plugging away until I've convinced myself approx' where the oil is. I've learnt through time that the engine uses v little oil anyway which helps. If you find the answer please let me know as that will free up a couple of hours a month for me

whatever

Another helpful tip is to make sure that you wipe the whole of the dip-stick, not just the bottom bit. And just keep trying!

OK....just bought some new oil so got to get this figured!!!!

Wouldnt be so bad if it was easy to get back in the hole each time you take it out too, especially with the awkward stance that one must assume to reach in the first place!!.

Still, practice makes perfect as they say.

I have found that unless the car has sat absolutely level for some time all you get is oil all over the dipstick.
As my drive slopes I have to move the car and leave it for an hour or so before I get a decent reading.....

I always check my 4.5 first thing in the morning. If you've got oil all up the stick it may be because the dealer had over filled it a bit - eventually some will burn off and you'll start to get readings - doesn't seem to do any harm when the level is a bit higher and they don't use a lot anyway ( about 1 litre every 2000 miles in my case)

Result!

I waited till the car had been left still overnight then pulled the stick out slowly. Seem to have a good reading now on both sides of the dipstick.

My car was serviced just over 1000 miles ago and the oil level was right on the mark so looks like Im not using too much. Could have been over filled slightly I guess.

Cheers,

Matt
