4.2 versus 4.5 tuning
Discussion
am looking into purchasing a cerb 4.2 or 4.5.is the 4.2 able to be tuned the same as the red rose conversion for the 4.5.realise the 4.2 is allready fast but the 4.5 red rose is stunning but i have my eye on a 99 4.2.what are the pitfalls with the 4.2 and what should i look out for 99 with 25000mls
if the 4.2 engine is a later type (dipstick at the front of the engine) then I don't see why not. Rumour has it that the 4.5 and 4.2 engines are very similar these days, with only different induction setups and different CR's.
What I would be tempted to do is run the 4.2 for a while and then have it converted, that way you feel like you are getting a new car twice, if you know what I mean.
It is not cheap mind you. Last I heard it was £4500 + VAT which is pretty expensive for an extra 50 bhp
