Taking the P*ss or what?
Discussion
Our Cerbie went to the garage for mechanical repairs on the 15th February, and its still there!!!! How p*ssed off would you be, we have forgotten what the car looks like. We took the car in before we went off on a two week holiday as it had work to be carried out under the warantee. Was not ready on our return, and they clocked up a speeding fine in the car while we were away. Not only that but they had driven the car 150 miles away to their sister garage instead of flatbedding it. They then told us it needed a new clutch and cam shaft which would not be covered by the warantee. Still waiting for that work to be done, over three months later, tax, mot, insurance and warantee have all run out. It took them 6 weeks to give us a courtesy car, then we got a skoda, after weeks of complaing that we bought a TVR not Skoda, they have now given us a Tamora (the tax run out on that a few days after they gave it to us so we are now stuck with a car we can not use), but we still dont have a date to get our car back. They are using the lame excuss that parts are difficult to come by. This is not the first time they have kept the car for a long period of time, only clocked up 3000 miles in the car since having it, and it is used as and everyday car doing at least 200-250 miles per week. Rant finally over!!! Unfortunatley saga is not, anybody know a good solicitor?
Tell them to tax the Tamara and go enjoy that? I know it’s not your car but at least you’ll have a TVR to drive. You can put loads of miles on that and save the mileage on your car, it save you a few quid on tyres and other wear and tear etc.
Its not acceptable but IF they can’t get the parts they won’t be able to fix it!

What I would do in this situation is to get a list of the parts that they're waiting for, and then call the factory and find out why it's taking so long. You might well find that the parts are sitting on the shelf, but the order from the dealer has been forgotten about, and it hasn't been chased.
Or, the dealer could be telling little porkies, because they're busy with non-warrenty work, which pays them much better.
Either way, you'll know the truth, and should be able to move things along a bit.

I had my clutch done just 2 weeks ago. There was no problem in finding the part at all.
This is not to rub the salt into the wound, but to highlight the deficiencies of your dealer.
I would be livid!!
Hope it gets resolved very quickly. Although the Tamora is a good car, it isn't your car.

Thanks for your replies. In the early days I did phone the factory but they were not aware of the order. We have even said that we would fly, drive or whatever to get the parts. Garage said parts were on their, stupidly we beleived them, they have even admitted to us that they have lied. As of yesterday we have been told that the parts have been fitted, but..... bad news, now they tell us that the wiring loom has completey corroded and we will have to get it replaced. After being sat at their garage for three months its probably got grass growing over it too. Downside here, is that since they had the car the warrantee has now run out. They were also supposed to be carrying out other electrical warrantee work on the car, so, here comes another argument, how come thay have not noticed that before? We now have a VERY hefty bill to pay before we can get our car back. And , how long will the wiring take to sort out, another three months I presume
If the fault was there when the vcar went in(must have been cause its not been used since) then the garage should foot the bil - cause it would have been in waranty when they recieved it!
