Misfire/coil pack

It isn't a massively tricky job. It just involves removing the air boxes and pipes from the top of the engine in order to get access to them. While you're at it, you may as well replace the ignition leads, as they tend to break down, and can be the cause of misfires too.

Have removed the air boxes, can see the leads, but can't find the coil!
Could anybody tell me where the coil is in the engine bay?
James, when you mentioned removing pipes, which particular pipes did you mean - did you mean what looks like the fuel rail to me, and if so, is there much more to it than unbolting it and then refixing it?

Inspect the leads first and see that they are well connected. Fire the engine in the dark and see if there are any sparks jumping around between 1 and 2,000 revs from the leads to the engine block ?? Then try the car again. If no improvement carry on. One of those leads runs to the coil ?
The Cerbera has no distributor, so all the leads run to the coil packs (1 pack for each bank of cylinders).
The Packs are right at the back of the engine bay, at the top of the V (near "that" 100Amp fuse that can cause problems). You'll have to remove the bit of trim below the windscreen to be able to get to them easily. I would suggest replacing just the leads 1st, before you replace the coil packs, as the leads tend to be the main culprit of mis-fires.
The pipes James is referring too are the purple inlet pipes on a 4.5, so you don't have them on your 4.2 Chris...
