Tyre Size Question
Discussion
The rear tyres are two sizes too large and will mess up your gearing/speedometer readings royally. Although you might gain an extra 5mph Vmax, acceleration figures will go up considerably.
The higher-profile front tyres will mess up the steering.
You will probably have clearance problems with the bodywork if the car is fully loaded (both in terms of passenger weight or just g-force when cornering).
In short, bad idea. Don't do it.

Personally I would not do it, the difference in rolling circumference is 3.6% increase at the front and 3.8% at the rear. I try to stick within about 1.5%. The increase will affect the ride height, handling and also performance slightly. Your speedometer/odometer will also be under-reading by 3.8% compared with before.
Cheers Chaps - pretty much what I thought.
Reason I asked is that these tyres are on a set of 16" spiders that I've just bought - thought it would be worth investigating, but looks as though its a new set.
Question then is, would you keep the same tyre sizes on spiders as on the original 4.2 16" alloys? (ie. 225/45 ZR16 & 245/45 ZR16)? What are the other options anyone?
Also, the rears off the old 16" are still good and could be swopped to the spiders, but the fronts need replacing - can anyone point me where I could find some SO2's in 225/45 ZR16? Or is it the Toyo route?
Cheers,
Tommo
