I know its not really what this forum's about, and I apologise for bringing down the mood a little, but I've just found out I'm going to be made redundant and therefore my Cerbera's for sale. I'll put a full post on the Classifieds section, but I'm after an instant sale if possible thus the price'll be stupid, like £15K stupid. Its a sound car, recent new green brakes pads, coil, leads and plugs. Have reupholstered the passenger door nicely and will finish drivers door if buyer wants me to. Have Infinity Kappa speakers still in their box (birthday present) ready to fit, still have original Pioneer CD-stack in boot, new head unit Sony something or another (nice one) ... will put all details in Classified section anyway.

Not good news, commiserations.

I can report that I am in that position too. But look out for all the opportunities that there might be. Also, being away from the pressures of work has done my health and mental outlook a power of good.

One thing I know, I am going to need to get around while I am hunting down that "right" job for me so there is no way that the TVR is going up for sale! We're having too much fun even if the weather's a bit damp! Only got to find something to replace it with anyway!!!

Chin up and Good luck!

bad luck mate. The company I work for is on the ropes. Looks like it'll last a few weeks more and then that will be that. Not much fun, but not the end of the world either. Can be a good opportunity to step back and look at your work options with a bit of perspective.

I can empathise Chris, still cheer youself up in the knowledge that, according to Labour, the unemployment figures have never been better

Thank you for your messages of support and some good advice - I'll take them all up as I'm currently in "survival" mode and (extremely reluctantly) having to chop-out all unnecessaries right now - which means I've had to cancel the order for 16" spiders :-( and the car definitely has to go, as does the Chrysler Voyager, as does the Suzuki Bandit 1200 ... it's a total toy-fest-sell-out. A real bast**d as I've waited 8yrs for the Cerbie, had it 2months and now have to sell it ... (you see I have 3kids, wife, mortgage, etc. and am only one working)
Still, on the bright side, there seems to be work around, just trying to ascertain what's going to cover my mortgage and other essentials right now. Some of you stated you'd been here before - can I ask, what did you do? Did you blitz the job market/agencies/internet with CVs or what? That's what I'm doing right now, using the company leased line as much as possible before I'm out. Makes you feel weird though - having worked since I was young enough to earn - weird.
Anyway - anyone need a Customer Service Manager (or similar) with acres of techie/soft-skills experience, then please do feel free to call me with any leads - anything will be read and considered professionally at this stage.
On a final note, I won't be logging into this forum much more until things get ship shape and I can even think about purchasing a Cerbera again (which WILL happen no matter what - it's just a question of WHEN) and reading your posts will be painful, but I wanted to thank you all for your most useful and interesting posts, I've learnt loads from you all and I thank you for your time and devotion. Good luck with your cars and happy motoring.

1st bloke who saw it bought it ... and I'm really happy for him (seems the car's going to a good home) ... but gutted to see it go though. Still - just a matter of time before Cerbie II - Return of the Cerbie hits our screens!

I'm gutted for you same thing happened to me a couple of years ago when the dot-com bubble burst... shame as I was looking forward to meeting up around surbiton some time for saddo car type banter! Shamelessly in the same posting.... I could well be interested in the speakers if you still have them...
cheers
Ian
PS we could still meet up and talk saddo Cerb type banter if u like! I'm sure you'll get sorted and get another Cerb soon

Sorry bit late to this, bad luck on the redundancy, but it will get better.

I was where you were last year (except I didn't have a flash car to have to sell, or any redundancy money). It is hard, and you have started well by disposing of the 'toys' (I am still in a 1.4 306 ) but basically don't discount any possibilities.
After 3 months out of work, I bit the bullet and went to Saudi, as it was the only thing going in my field. Money wasn't as good as most seem to think, and I hated it, especially being away from my wife and son(nearly 2 at the time). I am now in Switzerland, (at least it is sensible here, and I can get home on a much more regular basis), but not ideal.

You have to survive, and I am sure you will,

Good luck, and keep plugging those agencies
