I don't do it often, but have kerbed the front 18" spiders a few times (in my quest to park as close to the kerb as possible)

Can the alloys be restored and what is the approximate cost - dealer or independent?

Thanks

Hi - I've used Spit & Polish a couple of times, with pretty good results (admittedly on BMW wheels not TVR)

they're a franchise operation, should be able to get your local number from Directories/yell.com.

about £40 per wheel

cheers

Yellowcerbie, let us know how you get on. I managed to kerb my spider in a pathetic and inexcusable way on my own driveway the night before last (don't ask how) - it took less than a second to do, but the gnashing of teeth and irate pulling of hair that followed lasted more than 1 hour. When I have built up enough stupid scratches / scrapes, I'll also need to get my alloys refurbed.

Try Pristine, near Milton Keynes. Sorry, no number to hand. They do a very good service and can re-profile damaged rims prior to powder coating. I had a set of wheels from a Saab done and they came back like new, as did a friend's MR2 wheels recently (although they had to have 2 goes, as they are very tricky, with 2 colours etc) final result was top grade. About £45 each I think.

Thanks for the replies. Curious to know whether it's a quick (while you wait service) or whether I've to drive around in alternative alloys for days whilst the spiders are being refurbed?

not a while you wait service. Took 3-4 days to turn round my M5 wheels (including pick up and delivery from a bodyshop)

cheers

Spit and Polish in Tonbridge do the wheels in house. They can do them for next day.

A colleague had his done by a company that come to your home, and on his 19" Alpina whels they looked like new.

If you want the details i'll post tomorrow as its raining outside and the card is in the car!

We had ours reconditioned at about £40 a wheel with very good results (in anthracite). However, PLEASE dont take a tight roundabout too fast in greasy/ wet conditions only a few days afterwards... Understeer BANG. Result - a small chunk of the rim gone - the wheel had to be replaced with a used white wheel. The damaged anthracite one now graces my bedroom floor as a rather stunning looking coffee table.

The job itself took a week or so IIRC - we are now looking for a 17" wheel to put on while we get the current replacement wheel refurbished. Could also come in handy for the Le Mans trip - just in case.

We really should get round to getting the replacement wheel done...

Thanks for all replies. Sorry, to hear about the unfortunate incident moments after refurbing the wheels.

Simond001 - yes, I would be interested in having their details. Thanks.
