I have only managed to attend one meeting before, A) the venue got changed and B) my cerbs engine decided to turn itself back into raw aluminium and steel. Hoping beyond hope to have the car back next week. If I do I will be going to the next meeting.
Look forward to seeing you all there!!

Ouch, mind if I ask the age and mileage when it gave out and any particular reason?
Indeed, looking forward to meeting some owners.
My brother and father are past owners (Tasmin, Vixen, 3000m etc,) and my brother is now looking a selling his MX5 to get a Griff now I want a Cerbera LOL!, so he may well be there too.

Car is a 96 model and has just over 40K on the clock, was due for a service very soon anyway. When I brought the car it had, had all the required work done cams, belts, tappets, seals etc.. etc..
Not entirely sure what happened so can't comment fully and I don't want to scare anyone. All I know is that the supply of oil to the crank bearings was cut off due to the bearings moving around in the seats (I don't know why this happened or whether the two items are somehow linked i.e chicken and egg scenario). This then permenantly cut the oil supply off in some cases and meant a metal to metal contact was then happening on at least two bearings. The worst case was one bearing had spun around in the seat so much much it had begun to melt the ALi block. It fully blocked up the oil port, had begun to wear away the seat of the block and caused a hairline fracture in the block due to the temps (its possible the block may have had a fracture there before hand). The effect was also that the bearings have damaged the crank well beyond what is repairable. I was very lucky that I stopped driving when I did. The oil pressure totally disappeared and the engine sounded rough as guts so I pulled over during a track day. Other wise the engine would have let go big time. I had checked the oil levels during the day and had filled up with oil when the level was a bit low. My gauge has since proven to be fully working whilst my pump is slightly dodgy but this could be through all the sh@t that was found in the sump being sucked through the pump.
This is a very good case for ensuring that, 1) you have plenty of oil, 2) that your oil gauge works properly and 3)your oil pump works. Fortunately the heads, pistons and conrods are totally undamaged and hopefully will be re-used in the ensuing engine rebuild.
