Whilst crawling around underneath our R reg Cerb, looking for oil leaks, dead foxes or anything else untoward I mght have picked up on an early morning Sunday run (so the rev-counter does beep at 6800!), I noticed that the mechanical bits look OK, but there are a few patches where the coating has lifted off the chassis tubes in strips of about two inches by one inch. Looks like 100% iron oxide underneath. This may be one step beyond waxoyl

Has anyone had their chassis re-coated, and who was it done by?

Or is it a more economical strategy to leave it & sell on/replace chassis eventually?

Same here today. Fitting a sports exhaust (see earlier thread) and spotted the same. Thought I might remove any parts like suspension that can be removed and shot blast and paint but not sure what to do about the rest of the chassis. It's not too bad but will need attention.

Had mine done back in February, a couple of weeks after buying the car. Looking underneath you could see big chunks of the powdercoat coming away. So had it completely stripped back, coated in zinc primer and repainted with enamel. Was going to get it waxoyled but felt it needed more serious attention.

Got it done by TVR Sport in Sevenoaks. Took about a week (waiting for drying time between coats) and has turned out to be a job well done. Not that expensive and hopefully sorted for a few years now.

Fred, would you mind mailing me offline with the details of the cost and TVR Sport's phone number? Cheers!

I'd also be interested in costs for rust prevention/removal work?
