Hi folks

New to the site and as you will see by my name, I'm planning ahead.

I currently run a Chevy Camaro and a PT Cruiser, but have decided 2004 will see a Cerbera on the drive.

I've admired the car for a few years but knew little about what made it the best car out there until recently.

If I choose to keep one of my current cars, I'd opt for a second hand Cerbera, so with that in mind, one area I can't seem to find, is what colour schemes have been available as standard over the last 10 years?

Obviously the TVR site shows the current options, but what has gone before?

Also, anyone currently racing a Cerbera?

Cheers in advance
Graham
(PS Wish I'd made plans to go to Le Mans again this year... )

Its hard to know whats standard on any Cerbera, as for paint, having a choice of 12,000 colours means that no-one will know all of the "standard" colours. Basically, pearlescent/starmist/reflex/chameleon/cascade? colours cost more AFAIK. Just chose any colour that you like and it can be done at a price.

What type of racing do you mean anyway? Theres atleast one Cerbera sprinting at the moment...

Im sure Veryplast still have thier car racing more seriously, although im not sure what happened to Colin Blowers old car?

Hi Benjamin

Thanks for the reply.

Am I correct to then assume that with a new purchase on a TVR you can 'name' the colour you want the car?

As for the racing, I saw a Cerbera at GT level a few years ago and would be keen to see one on the track again, so any pointers would be helpful.

Many thanks

Im sure TVR will do you pretty much any colour you want. Looking at your profile im sure they can do that colour should you want another matching toy

If you are buying new either buy a 4.2 or a 4.5RED ROSE, dont buy a standard 4.5, the 4.2 is more or less the same, the 4.5Red Rose steps things up a little. Im not going to comment on the Speed six.

The GT's were both in belgium IIRC?? im sure that you can find out thier whereabouts and next race fixtures somewhere on this site.

Engine failures perhaps?

Sorry mate, disagree with you there. The difference between the 4.2 and 4.5 is noticable, and not convinced the RedRose conversion is value for money, so IMHO the 4.5 is the only one to go for (and most definitely not the SP6).

Thanks for the reply Geoff

While my initial question wasn't to debate the car to get, I'd very much welcome all comments on the pros and cons.

Naturally each model will have the snipers and flag wavers, so perhaps those that have tried all three models could advise me?

I have time on my side, so will test drive all three to look out for signs as discussed on here.

Many thanks folks, only trouble is, I'm starting to itch like mad to get it now!

We have a 4.5!! It probably is better than the 4.2 in a few respects, but to be honest I dont think its worth the extra money when buying new. The Red Rose has some serious proven power over the 4.2 and 4.5 that is worth the extra cash imho.

By all means get a 4.5, its lovely - but we got ours used, and for 4.2 money. I just think the Red Rose makes alot more sense performance wise.

agree: the 4.5s are a lot slower, particularly the latest 4.5s versus the earlier 4.2s. Personal experience of owners moving from 4.2s to 4.5s and being disappointed in the performance. I've never ever had a 4.5 pull away from my 4.2 on a track day; quite the reverse in fact.

and not convinced the RedRose conversion is value for money

don't know about 'value', that's a very subjective thing, but the red rose cars really are a lot quicker; they're how the 4.5 'should' have been in the first place.

If you're thinking of buying it new, a decent and understanding garage will let you test drive all 3 or 4 models back to back.

Mole Valley, Redhill certainly had no hesitation when my wife and I test drove the Sp6, 4.2 and 4.5 on the same day ie 6 drives in total!

They almost had to close the garage that afternoon. 2 sales executives ensured that we had a satisfying afternoon.

Yes, you can pretty much choose the colour & shade you want!

In reply to the colour question, if buying new (obviously!), TVR will paint the car any of the colours that they source direct, they will also spray it any colour available from any manufacturer anywhere in the world or if you really want to be an individual you can mix YOUR colour that no one else anywhere will have.

Same goes pretty much for the interior, available in many different finishes in many different colours or a mix yer own arrangement so if you wanted a purple cerb with purple leather, purple carpets and purple stitching you can!
