Would like some advice on cleaning. My old car didnt really get much cleaning.....other than an occasional 5 minutes in the local petrol station machine wash....so am a bit new to all this cleaning stuff.
My basic understanding is as such;
1)rinse with water
2)apply shampoo - Autoglym/Meguiars - whats best???
3)apply polish/resin - do I need to dry the car first after the shampoo or apply on wet?? Thought I'd use Autoglym Super resin.
4)apply wax - understand carnuba wax is best....whats that....understand Meguiars does this type of wax.
5)also want to clean and replenish the leather interior. Is the 2 part Autoglym cleaner & care cream better for the leather than the quick all-in-one Meguiars stuff????
6)to dry the car do I use the polish/100% cotton clothes that you can buy??? What about the chamois leather??? What about this ezi-dry blade (as reccommended by PetrolTed)???

When I bought my cerbie I also bought a load of AutoGlym stuff. So far it has been fine. The interior products (cleaner/cream) are particularly good.
However I want to try Zymol/Meguiars wax to see how it compares although I have heard that these waxes take a lot more effort to apply than the AutoGlym extra gloss protection.

Have to go down the Autoglym recommendation route. Infact, there's a TVR branded Autoglym pack that has just about everything that you need:

Bit pricey to get everything in the one shout - however, haven't compared it to getting everything individually.
It's the tire shine that gets me - it's just such a good (and obvious) touch... You've just spent the better part of the weekend cleaning EVERYTHING and it's so true - matt tyres really don't finish the car off properly. Thankfully Mr. Anal Autoglym has thought of these things for us .... !
P.S. I wasn't joking about the entire weekend ... you just have to accept that by the end of your efforts, it may well be raining again ...

Once washed, leathered and resin polished, I used this AutoGlym "resin coat" stuff. Can't remember the name, but it says on the front of the bottle "for perfectionists" or something like that ...
You rub it in, leave it for 45 mins then buff off. It leaves this great "glass layer" effect which rainwater just falls off!!

Yep - Autoglymn stuff is great if you have the time to do it. I generally use the Autoglymn about once a month. Wet the car. Use the shampoo. Dry car with a nice soft towel (drives the other half mad). Then resin polish.
If you want a quick wash. I borrowed a bottle of TurtleWax Hot Wax off my brother to try it. Very impressed. It comes in a red bottle not the luminous green ones that I have seen down at Halfords. I have not seen it on sale anywhere and when I asked my brother he said he had go it at some small motor factor but couldn't remember where. Says on the bottle to use really hot water and either put it in the bucket or apply direct to sponge.

Rinse the car with a hose (starting with the Wheels). I use MER Shampoo, wash all over

Finally when you have spent the weekend cleaning your pride & joy, wrap up in the garage so the elements don't get to it!
I can recommend the Autopia site...I have got some nifty ideas from there for treating stone chips!
