went to close the boot this weekend and it wouldn't latch,, the relay still clicks if you press the release badge but I cant see how its meant to work. cant even get it to grip a screw driver instead of the round catch on the boot.. major pain as the car is insecure with the boot open.. any ideas?

Sounds like the solenoid has died a death.... They have a habit of burning out... New one should cost about £15, and is a DIY job if you want (took me about 10 mins to get the old one out, not replaced it yet as the car is off the road, but I'd guess 20 mins to refit....

Ian - if you still haven't any joy, mail me on my profile and I'll talk you through the workings of the boot catch just in case it's something more simple than the solenoid..... I've been stuck with boxes of empty wine bottles in the boot (don't ask) for more than a few days when this happened to me! Teaches you to drive carefully with all that glass in the boot!
