Hi there,

I have a really odd problem with my 4.5 Cerbera that we just cant work out. Perhaps someone out there can help me??

Basically if I turn in the ignition to start the car, it will turn itself off again. The wierd thing is that the longer I leave the car, the longer it stays on for before switching off! If I leave the car for an hour, the ignition will remain on for about 2 seconds. If I leave it for the weekend, then it will stay on for about 20 seconds before switching itself off again..

I have changed the Ignition Control Unit for a new one but I have the same problem still. I have tried dissconnecting the battery, have checked all the fuses, cleaned and checked the Aux Ignition Relay, but no luck...

When the ignition switches itself off, I can hear a relay click in the boot, but I am not sure what it is. I have also tried isolating only the fuses to allow the engine to run (ie ECU, Coils, Fuel Pump, etc) and leaving all the light circuits and stuff off but I still have the problem. Even Joolz is stumped!!

Any ideas????

Hi Mart

Could it be an alarm / immobiliser problem? These are mounted on the panel behind the rear seats.

From what you've said it's like when the immobiliser cuts out the starter circuit but in your case it kills the whole ignition system. What is happening to the immobiliser, is this working normally?

Hiya Mike,

The immobiliser seems to be working OK, but it's interesting that you say that the relays are behind the rear seats, as that seems to be the area where I hear the click when it switches off....

I have just taken the car down to the TVR Bodyshop to let them investigate for me. It's a really anoying problem! I will call them and suggest looking at this...

Thanks!

Mart
