Does anyone have any recommendations for somewhere that specialises in installing/advising/modifying sound equipment (stereos, CDs, etc.) in Cerberas? I want to upgrade mine totally, and don't want to go to regular place as they're gonna bugger up my motor - innit?

when I had my Griff I had the rear vents replaced by alpine 6x9's,uprated the door speakers, alpine head unit and was going to have an amp put in the boot but this setup sounded fantastic enough so I didnt bother. If you have the 6x9's ported into the boot you get fantastic bass response too.

sorry, misread your car, thought it said Chimaera, disregard the porting into boot idea!

A mate of mine whose dad used to own Portfield once came to my house with a Cerbera (about 5 years ago) which had a massive subwoofer in the gap between the rear seats, sounded amazing.

Yeah, I'm looking to have the full monty done to my Cerb - New head unit, 4 new speakers, sub and an amp.

I haven't come away from many local places feeling inspired with confidence.

That's right - me too - I'm in the market for a complete sound system overhaul too. The general high-street stuff, whilst great (don't wanna knock'em 'cos I guess they do a good job for the micras, focus, etc.) but I really want something that (a) fits, (b) is powerful (enough to hear over the engine), (c) a little bit "rarer" ...

I am also upgrading and have been recommended the following:

1) New Alpine head unit 7893 which will drive rear speakers
2) Front spkrs 17cm JLTR 650
3) Rear spkrs 10 cm JLVR400
4) Genesis Profile 4 Amp to go under front seat driving front spkrs and the sub
5) 17cm sub to go between rear seats which will leave enough room to put a small glove box above it with a flap of some sort

Does this sound feasible?

I'd be up for purchasing and fitting that kit (thanks for the great list - very useful and good kit too) ... the only question I'd have is mounting the sub in the rear-recess - that sounds like it would involve some "DIY" woodwork/GPS/? - any thoughts on the mounting for that?
