Does anyone know if a 4.5 fitted with peninsula sports pipes is too loud for track day noise regulations (cats not removed)?

Marginal as standard so my guess would be yes, unless you get some really good external silencers.

Well stating the obvious it depends what the noise limit is, I think cirvy's 4.5 is that spec, and that had no problems at last years TVRCC trackday at Cadwell, and a much noiser 4.2 standard pipes but de-catted cerby was fine as well

Depends on the track. I've done Oulton, Croft and Knockhill with a de-cat car and straight-through 3" tail pipes with no problems [way louder than sports pipes]. However, on Oulton and Croft they were categorised as 'noisy days', as are most [all maybe?] of the TVRCC days at Oulton and Croft.

At Oulton there was a bloke with a noise meter in the pit lane area, but I always eased off when I passed. No problems from out on track, but I don't think they'd let me in the gates of some places.

Probably around 105db like that, so will fail any day with noise limits. Which track?

I think silverstone do some 105db days but have been told it is a bit of a boring track.

Gary, as I have mentioned elsewhere, i still can't believe you got through at 98dB because the car sounded fantastic past the pits. And I got black flagged for drive by noise with a 1600 x flow!!

Why do track days have sound restrictions?

I assume its due to locals complaining... but then why don't they complain about cars just going past their houses. Something to do with daily loud cars???

Thanks in advance, Andy

it was only 98db on the static if you heard it before the inserts and wire wool was put in it sounds even better .
