Latest Cerbie damper/geometry set up
Discussion
I take delivery of my new Cerbera 4.5RR very shortly and I'm wondering if anyone has first hand experience of the latest damper/geometry set up compared to the pre November 2002 spec. (Not that impressed with the current set up on my 2001 4.5 and I'm wondering if it's as big an improvement as the factory would have me believe!)

I dunno but I'm hoping to find out in the next couple of weeks when i get my car back. I'll see if I can notice any major differences.
Not wishing to rain on anyones parade but.....
I can't imagine TVR fitting expensive suspension components to any of its cars, the standard kit is allegedly VERY cheap (except when TVR try to sell it to you as a replacement part).
It is unlikely to be as good as a Nitron set for example, but you never know. Having said all that I hope it is an improvement.
Rob.

The guys at the factory were raving over the improvements with the new suspension set-ups. They weren't trying to sell me anything they were just obviously enthusiastic about what they've acheived.
From some website:
For 2002, all TVR Cerberas now have a new suspension set-up, the most notable parts of the which are gas-filled dampers which TVR has developed in conjunction with HBE to incorporate a highly unusual damper curve. By ramping up the rebound very quickly at higher piston speeds, traction and ride can be improved at the same time as high-speed body control.
Will give an honest opinion when I get the car back... I hope its not a let down.

Well Bandit, first impressions are awesome. That's true for the whole car though! The difference between this car and my 2001 4.5 is staggering. You'd think it was a different model altogether. Far more stable and comfortable. I think the steering is a little less pin sharp on turn in but the fact that you can carry speed through corners on less than ideal road surfaces makes up for that. Does wonders for your confidence too. Can it be? Do I have a Cerbera that can be chucked about in the twisty stuff? Well at this stage it seems like it. Will let you know more as the miles pile on.
Nice one Washy
Sounds very promising. Mines still not back from the factory, waiting for a part or something. I'm off to mexico for a couple of weeks in beginning of April so will probably have to wait until mid-April untill I get her back.
I'm even more excited now though... can't wait to give it a go !

Danny, I quite agree! I spoke to Guy and Jools about the Nitron kit a while back as I assumed I'd be junking the standard set up almost immediately. As it turns out I'm very impressed (and surprised) by the car as it is. I'm still very keen to experience a Nitron'd car though as I'd soon cough up the extra if it really was better all round. I'd have to witness it first hand now though. Before I got the 2003 car I would've just gone for it anyway.
I had my 2001 cars alignment checked/adjusted 3 times by 3 different dealers in a matter of months. Opinions varied but it seemed that the 18 wheel/ultra low profile Bridgestone S02 combination was not ideal unless you were driving on a Snooker table! I changed to Toyo's on the advice of my current dealer and that improved things no end. Still a long way from ideal though.
As I understand it the kingpin inclination was altered on all Cerberas around mid/late 2001. I think this was a consequence of lessons learned from the Tuscan/Tamora development. Following that change the factory experimented with different spring and damper rates. It seems they settled on a new setup in time to discuss it with customers at last years motorshow!
It feels to me like they've done a good job. The acid test will be a track day once it's fully run in. There is a particular fast left hander that felt horrible in the last car and I'm keen to see how this car takes it.
