anyone know where is a good place to put one? in the back means loads more wiring etc

I've got an amp fitted in the boot below the fuse box for the Subwoofer but also have a second amp for the front speakers in the passenger footwell.

The panel covering the ECU at the front of the footwell pulls out and there is space above it to mount a sizeable amp. Location is neatly below the battery and beside the head unit keeping cable lengths to a minimum.

nice one.. a decent amp should make all the difference. did you wire the amp live + earth from the fuse box?

I didn't do the installation but as far as I can see the power cable has been taken from the battery, in-line fuses fitted, before being switched via relays (activated by and located behind the headunit) to the amps. Earth wires connect to nearest common chassis point.

To be honest, I still prefer the sound coming from the tailpipes as my choice of in-car entertainment! New amp or sports pipes, hmmm
