can anyone tell me when was the up rated clutch fitted as standard to the cerb?

As far as I am aware the 4.5's always had the 'uprated' clutch (stronger basket and a different flywheel IIRC). It was the earlier 4.2's that didn't, mine was replaced before I bought it and seeing as mine is a '98 R I can only assume that it became standard some time after this.

I would imagine that most of the earlier cars have had theirs replaced by now though.

There were two upgrades. One that came in sometime pre 4.5's and if you;ve got one of these the bell housing needs to be replaced too. The second upgrade was quite recent (some of the S6's didn't get the current clutch) but if you need to to replace one of these its a lot less painful. I think there are a few items you need to change other than the clutch but you'd do those when doing the clutch anyway (release bearing etc)

Had mine done 2 months ago and it was 1200 IIRC

My '97 R 4.2 is still on its original clutch. And very good it is too. Long may it continue...

going very well when i use it thanks, getting better with it more and more. .. awesome quick changes, brutal acceleration, going from A to B like never before... real direct feel, no comprimise... its right on
