Heating and ventilation
Discussion
I have an early 4.2 cerb with seperate hot and cold ventilation and I have a few questions...
If the fans are not on but I turn the hot or cold dials will it alter the airflow/temperature?
Is there anyway to get the hot fan to blow a bit harder?
Should it demist faster on a cold day with both fans on full and the aircon on? (the aircon works!)
Is there a way to restrict the air jets on the passenger side of the screen so the drivers side gets more air and clears a bit faster?
Has anyone upgraded the fans? Where are they located?
Questions, questions...
TIA

No. Turning up the 'heat' just make the hot ait fan run harder. No fans, no heat. Both the hot and cold air fans blow through one-way valves into the air mixer box [unless you have the later octopus-style system], and the system seem 'weighted' in favour of cold air so with no fans, the greater cold-air flow will force the hot air one-way valve closed.

Not that I know of, but you can put some baffling [bits of bent metal] in the mixer box to give some more hot air to the driver and stop it all being directed straight back out the mixer box to the passenger footwell.

Yes

Not without major surgery. I've never found this a problem though so long as all the other [6 x] vents are closed. If I'm in the car alone, I always make sure the passenger side vents are closed, as the hot-air part of the system is biased to the passenger side.

Not that I know of...they're in the bowels of the wings.
Another useful DIY mod is to break into the large cold-air pipe under the drivers-side dash and connect the drivers face vent directly to it. This means you always get cold fresh air at face level irrespective of cabin temp.
Of course, my car [for sale on PH] has had all this done
