Speedometer and ECU

Is the speed sensor an input to the ECU, or is the speedometer driven independently from the sensor?

If the speed sensor does provide an input to the ECU, does this input have an effect on the engine control/mapping?

Hi Jeremy

I can't say if the speed sensor connects to the ECU but I did suffer a failed sensor.

Speedo became erratic for a short period and then died. Engine performance was consistant during and after failure with no noticeable differences.

Thanks Mike - I seem to have a similar problem.

Just wondered if it would affect performance or running. Oh, and more importantly, provide me an excuse for these results.

What's wrong with those results? They look pretty consistent with 350ish bhp to me? Buy my car with 400bhp instead if you want to annoy those pesky twin turbo porkers :-)

I decided to sort out the respray and stuff before advertising again, after seeing another one ultra mega shiny it put mine to shame!
