New to TVRs - looking to buy - question
Discussion
I'm competely new to TVR's and in the market for a Cerbera for weekend use - I have an Impreza to part ex.
I'd appreciate your views on which engine to go for and why - I've seen a nice Speed Six but unsure if I should hold out for a 4.5
Also, where are the big expenses, day-to-day and those things to look out for when buying.
Thanks
Phil

I really wanted a V8 and was looking for a Cerbera, but happened upon a beautiful Tuscan at a local dealer that just said "buy me", so I did! Absolutely love it, the speed six engine through those twin pipes stirs the soul, I can't imagine any V8 sounding better? (though I'm sure some on these pages will disagree!!). Reflecting back and comparing with the Cerbera I'm glad fate lent a hand and made me buy the Tuscan. Without the useless back seats you get a much more usable boot, the opportunity of open air motoring, wonderfully quirky interior, gorgeous triple lights at the front, mad indicators at the back, and all in all a very drivable car (using mine everyday).

But on the topic of buying a Cerbera don't use it as a weekend toy, they work better if you use them all the time.

I think the Cerb V8 is the oddest sounding engine out there, certainly doesn't sound like a normal V8 more like a Jap sports bike.......that is by no means a bad thing though.
I'm smitten by the Tuscan btw too
I travel 100 miles a day to work and back - did it for a couple of years in the Impreza Turbo. Good fun but expensive. I would love to run a TVR in the same way but don't think its realistic. I now have a 'motorway car' but it lacks the emotion factor I want from driving. Hence the reference to a weekend car. Its trying to balance the passion for cars with the reality and economics of life.
I've taken some time to look through some of the recent posts and all I understand is that its down to personal preference between the S6 and 4.5, although it appears the 4.5 is assumed to be more reliable?
