I'm convinced that my boot light is staying on, sure I can see a glow coming from the slight gap in the boot lid. Does anyone know where the switch is to activate the light?

cheers

On mine (96 4.2) it is on the offside wing near the boot hinge at the back (make sense, thought not )you can press it down with your finger with the boot lid open. If you get very stuck I'll draw you a picture !

On ours (late 97 4.2) it's the same place (drivers side hinge).... Ours stopped working, so with a bit of effort, I got a screw driver to it, and got it off the body. It's only a cheap plastic switch, so I took it apart, cleaned the connections (which were more rust than metal due to living in the rain gutter), and reassembled. Now works absolutely fine !

Your has probably corroded open rather than closed... Took me 30 mins tops to take it apart & clean... If you can't find it, I'll take a pic tonight & post tomorrow morning/this evening.

Good luck

Found it, thanks. I've discovered that the boot lid isn't shutting fully, therefore leaving the light on by not pressing down on the switch. I need to glue a piece of plastic on the bracket to give it that extra depth.
In the meantime, if I take the bulb out will this prevent battery drain?

cheers

I'd say so, however I'm usually wrong

You could see if the boot lid will adjust, you might get a better fit.
